Name That Shoe!

March 8, 2011

Ugh. You guys, I thought when we finally found Mr. Panther’s suit, the groom apparel dilemmas would be over. But of course, I was wrong. Wrong, wrong again.

Mr. Panther still needs shoes. And I thought that would be easy. He just needs something stylish, formal and streamlined. Ideally, a black leather wingtip oxford with a slightly squared toe. NBD, right?

These are the shoes shown with the Theory suit on the Bloomingdales website:

One would think, since they’re on the Bloomingdales site, that Bloomingdales sells these shoes. This, unfortunately, is not the case.

We found what looked like a nice pair from Ben Sherman. Mr. Panther liked them, they weren’t super expensive and the quality looked good. Sadly, when they came in the mail … Mr. Panther didn’t like them anymore.

They’re too pointy! Wahhhh! The toe looked square in the picture on the site … Hrmph.

Hive, I’ve scoured the internet, and I’ve had no success. I need your help! Does your man wear formal wingtip oxfords? Where did he get them? Have you ever seen the shoe from the first photo? Any stylish shoe suppliers that I should check out? Did you have similar shoe-shopping trouble and would you like to commiserate?

Thanks in advance!

Check out JCrew! I just looked at the website and they have a few options that could work. The Gifford Leather wing tips look like they have a nice square toe. Hope this helps!

Hey Katie — thanks for the tip! I did look at those briefly, but couldn’t tell if they were too casual … Then again, Mr. Panther says shoe polish can make any shoe look shiny (and therefore more formal). Definitely worth checking out! 🙂
